Regulatory Framework of Legal Education

Regulatory Framework of Legal Education:
Issues within Regulatory Bodies

Abstract

Last year in 2018 legal education system was to be reformed, but it could not happen because the HECI bill lapsed in parliament. Over time legal education has evolved as a separate branch of study, but legal researchers and law professors lack their sole identity. If they are pursuing LLB, LLM, or PhD or if they are working as a professor they cannot participate in any kind of legal practice. They do not have adequate representation in the regulatory bodies. This affects the quality of education. In India, lawyers are mainly known for their advocacy and court practice. However, they have also contributed to social reforms through research work. This paper tries to analyze the framework of regulatory bodies. The paper is divided into four heads namely, Introduction, Tracing History, Regulatory Framework, and Conclusion and Suggestion. There is a need for the unification of BCI and UGC, where there should be adequate representation of pupils and teachers. This also requires coordination between legal researchers and court practitioners.
